September was a whirlwind of shows, beginning Labor Day weekend with the trip to Indianapolis, IN , for the All American Cup Classic. Way back in 2004, the as -yet -un-born foal of "Seize the Moment" was nominated for the AAC by Jo Cornell, of Louisville , KY, because her mare failed to conceive that year. Jo had to nominate another mare bred to "Mountainview's Oh Heavenly Day", and selected ours. We are very grateful to Jo for giving us the opportunity to participate in this historic event.

In the All American Cup, the nominated foals are eligible to compete as Weanlings and again as Three Year Olds. "Oh Heavenly Moment" (a.k.a. "Andy") didn't compete as a weanling, but we decided to make the trip this year. Knowing that our chances weren't too good, we decided that it would be exciting to travel to Indianapolis and be part of the first - ever AAC Three Year Old Three Gaited Classic. This event was the highest paying Performance class in the history of American Saddlebred Shows, boasting prize money totalling $170,000!

"Andy" performed very well, but unfortunately was not one of the three year olds selected for the finals. However, we all had a great time, and enjoyed the wonderful facilities and hospitality at the Indianapolis Fairgournds. We got to visit friends in Indiana as well as spend a night each direction with Nana and Grandaddy in Chesapeake, OH.

Virginia State Championship Horse and Pony Show, Lexington, VA, September 18 - 21.

For the fifth straight year, Shauna Prasse and "Paradocs Whatzapnin'?" captured the High Point Saddleseat Championship of Virginia! They placed first in SS Pleasure, first in SS Equitation, were Champion in the Saddleseat Equitation Classic, and Reserve Champion in the Saddleseat Pleasure Classic.

Chris Prasse and "Told Ya So" took third place honors in Intermediate Hunter at 2'6" (out of 28 horses!) and also third place in Huntseat Equitation Over Fences @ 3'.

Charlotte Hoberg and " Laughing Lay-Up" placed 6th (of 23) in Large Pony Working Hunter and 9th in Hunter Equitation on the Flat Ages 14-15

Hannah Brown and "Fade to Gray", in their first trip to States, placed 4th (of 21) in Hunter Equitation Ages 9 - 12.

We were very proud of the riders and their mounts, especially since ALL of them received Blue Ribbons for excellence in Stable Management!

ASHAV

Another visit to the Horse Center in Lexington, VA, September 24 - 28th for ASHAV!

This year we had decided to change divisions for "Paradocs Whatzapnin'?"....after his Saddleseat victory the week before, at ASHAV we exhibited "Zap" in the ASB Western and ASB Hunter divisions. He placed 2nd in the Hunter Qualifying Class, shown by Shauna, then went on to WIN the ASB Hunter Championship! In ASB Western, with Joan on board, "Zap" was 4th in the qualifying class and 8th in the ASB Western Championship, although he did receive a 2nd place vote from one of the three judges. We were very pleased and will probably continue with him in these divisions.

"Paradocs Day Ja Vu" (our Baby Judi) was Reserve Champion Grand National Yearling! She also placed 4th in the ASHAV Open and 6th in the ASHAV Amateur Futurities, with Trey leading.

"Brass Buttons" and Shauna finished off their Roadster Pony Under Saddle career with third place finishes in both the Medallion class and the Championship. They had a great show, a fitting tribute to leaving the Juvenile division and Shauna's favorite class. Next year "Buttons" will only be able to be shown "to bike." (Shauna is scheming to get a Road Horse now.....Mom is opting for a college education first....)

Trey rode "Oh Heavenly Moment" to a 5th place finish in Novice Five Gaited Pleasure....Quite a feat since "Andy" had only been racking for three weeks, after returning from the AAC Three Gaited Three Year Old Classic! We;re expecting great things from "Andy" next season in the Junior Five Gaited division.

Trey also showed "Paradocs Genie" for Margaret Jill Modlin. They placed 6th in Virginia Owned Country Three Gaited and 8th in Novice Country Three Gaited.

Rockbridge Regional Fair, July 19, Lexington , VA

"Brass Buttons" and Shauna Prasse won first place in Roadster Pony Under Saddle

"Told Ya So " and Shauna were Hunter Pleasure Champions and also won the Huntseat Equitation class.

Southern Regional Championship Horse Show

The top 580 entrants from 13 states competed at this year's Southern Regional Championship Horse Show, held in Lexington, VA, July 29 - August 3.

Shauna and " Paradocs Whatzapnin'?" won Champion in Halter Showmanship and SaddleSeat Pleasure, and were Reserve Champions in SaddleSeat Equitation and Model Gelding, to become the 2008 Southern Regional SaddleSeat High Point Champions. Congratulations, Shauna!

"Oh Heavenly Moment" and Trey Prasse won first place in the Two Year Old Three-Gaited Futurity!

Trey also led "Paradocs Day Ja Vu" to a 4th place ribbon in the Amateur Weanling Futurity.

Virginia State Championship Show, Lexington, VA

"Paradocs Whatzapnin'?" and Shauna Prasse were named State High Point Saddleseat Champions for the fourth straight year, after winning both the qualifying classes and the Classics for Saddleseat Pleasure and Saddleseat Equitation. They were Reserve Champion in Halter Showmanship, winning a $150 savings bond!

"Design by Kids" and Chris Prasse placed 7th and 8th in Western Pleasure, and were second in Senior Western Equitation.

Shauna, Chris, and Charlotte Hoberg all won blue ribbons for excellence in Stable Management!

A.S.H.A.V. Horse Show, Lexington , VA

Our biggest star was "Oh Heavenly Moment".... Under Trey's direction, our "Andy" remained undefeated for his 2 year old season by winning the Two Year Old Three-Gaited Class as well as the Two Year Old In Hand Futurity! They announced that the Futurity win was by unanimous vote of the three judges!

"Paradocs Whatzapnin'?" and Trey placed 6th in the large Adult Country Pleasure qualifying class, then were 4th in the Country Pleasure Championship.

"Paradocs Day Ja Vu" and Trey placed 4th in the VA Amateur Weanling Futurity.

"Paradocs Swoosh" and Trey were third in the Novice Three-Gaited Class, then 5th in the Three-Gaited Championship.

Shauna Prasse rode "Brass Buttons" to third place finishes in both the qualifying class and the Championship for Roadster Pony Under Saddle.

June 1, 2007 "Melody's First Tune" ("Bunny") gave birth to an adorable filly by "The Sorcerer". The new baby is a bay with 4 white stockings and the typical high-stepping Hackney attitude, yet is small enough to be picked up and carried around! (Okay, that probably won't last long!) We haven't decided on her registered show name, but she's called "Barbie", and she just loves attention!

9/20 - 9/23 VA State Championship Horse Show, Lexington, VA
Christopher Prasse and "Design By Kids" won 7th and 8th place ribbons in their Western Pleasure classes, and were 2nd in Senior Western Horsemanship.

April 22, AHFHS: Catherine Rothlisberger and "Masquerade" were Short Stirrup Hunter Champions and Reserve Champion in Short Stirrup Equitation., Charlotte Hoberg and "Laughing Lay-Up" were Short Stirrup Hunter Reserve Champions, Hannah Christian and "Paradocs Patriot" were Reserve Champion in PreShort Stirrup, Abigail Turner on "Miracle" was 4th in PreShort Stirrup, and Charlotte Manvell and "Miracle" were 2nd in Lead-Line! This was the first time out for all of these new combinations, so we were extremely proud!

May 5, Front Royal Northern Districe Qualifying Show: Christopher Prasse on "Design By Kids" were first in Western Halter Showmanship, first in Western Equitation, first in Western Walk-Jog-Lope, second in Western Go-as-you-please, and overall High Point Northern District WesternChampions.

Shauna Prasse and "Paradocs Whatzapnin?" swept the Saddleseat Gaited Pleasure division, and were Northern District Saddleseat Champions for the 4th consecutive year.

May 20 AHFHS: Charlotte Hoberg and "Laughing Lay-Up" were Short Stirrup Equitation Champions. Newcomer "Hawkhill's Broadway Smash", shown by Shauna Prasse was third in Novice Hunter WT, Hannah Christian and "Paradocs Patriot" were third in PreShort Stirrup.

June 1, Rosemount Northern District Qualifying Show: Shauna Prasse qualified "Bailarina del Cielo" with a first place in Saddleseat Halter Showmanship, first in Saddleseat Equitation, first in Saddleseat go-as-you-please, and Reserve Champion in Pleasure. They were the high point Saddleseat horse and rider for the show.

Charlotte Hoberg qualified "Paradocs Patriot" with a blue Danish and second place overall in Hunter Halter Showmanship, then qualified "Laughing Lay-Up" for the State Championship with a 5th place in Hunter Pony Pleasure and a 4th place in Huntseat

Congratulations to Catherine Rothlisberger, the proud new owner of "Masquerade"(a.k.a. "Funny Face"). Already this past season, Catherine and Masquerade have chalked up many wins and Championships in PreShort Stirrup, including AHF Year End High Point Champion. They recently placed first at our Dressage schooling show. Masquerade , a 6 year old gelding with 4 white stockings and an unforgettable face, has won many firsts and championships in PreShort, Hunter Pony, Pleasure pony, and Dressage. He also goes western and drives! Watch for this pair next year in Short Stirrup!

Shauna and Zap VA State Champions for third year in a row!
At the VA State Championship Show, held Sept. 14 - 17 in Lexington, VA, Shauna and "Paradocs Whatzapnin?" were 6th in Halter Showmanship, won first in English Pleasure, first in the Saddleseat Equitation qualifying class, Champion in the Pleasure Classic, and Reserve Champion in the Equitation Classic, to win the Overall High Point VA State Saddle Seat Championship!
Our first-time entrants at the State show also did well! Christopher Prasse and "Design By Kids" were 10th in Western Pleasure and 4th in Working Western Riding----out of 51 horses! Charlotte Hoberg riding "Paradocs Patriot" was 10th in Halter Showmanship, 4th and 8th in Pleasure Pony, and 9th in Hunter Equitation.

At the Southern Regional Championship Horse Show , held July 25 - 30 in Raleigh, NC, Shauna Prasse and "Paradocs Whatzapnin'?" competed against the top riders selected from 13 states, and made us proud! They placed 4th in Halter Showmanship, and were Champion in Saddleseat Equitation, Champion Model Gelding, Reserve Champion in English Pleasure, and were the Southern Regional Overall High Point Saddleseat Champions!! Congratulations to Charlotte Hoberg and her family on their purchase of "Laughing Lay-Up" . " Leia " is a 4 year old bay mare (by Paradocs Nothin' But Net out of Star Snickers) who has demonstrated the talent and temperament of both of her illustrious parents. As a 2 year old and 3 year old,Leia won first place honors in Halter Showmanship, Hunter Equitation, Hunter Pleasure Pony, and Dressage. She is now doing well over fences , and she and Charlotte already placed third in a competitive Intro dressage test at the April show. The team of Charlotte and Leia should prove be a great one, in the show ring or at home!

Northern District 4-H Qualifying Show, May 6

Shauna Prasse and Paradocs Whatzapnin'? won first place in Saddleseat Equitation, Saddleseat Go-as-you-please, and Saddleseat WTC, and were overall Saddle Seat High Point Champion for the third year in a row, retiring the perpetual trophy.
Lindsey Ellinger won a red Danish with Sassy Frass Red in Junior Hunter Halter Showmanship.
Charlotte Hoberg and Paradocs Patriot received a blue Danish, then was Reserve Champion in Junior Hunter Halter Showmanship. They won first place in Junior Hunter Pleasure WTC, a sixth place in Equitation, and were overall Reserve Champion Junior Hunter Pleasure Pony.
Chris Prasse/ Design By Kids and Janie Cardwell/ Phantom qualified for the State Show at the April 8th Qualifying Clinic, in Doswell, VA.

Each state is allowed a maximum of 42 riders in the Southern Regional Championship.

Congratulations to Annabelle Holmes of St Leonard, MD, on the purchase of Mountainview's Hot Tamale ( Manhattan Supreme x Mountainview's Alleluia P.T.L.) The lovely chestnut mare will be in training with Bill Shiflet at Lake Prince Farm, Gordonsville, VA.

The folks at Four S Enterprises of Huntersville, NC, are now the proud owners of Paradocs Korygami (Kabuki x Royal Crest's Rockette) "Kory" had an auspicious start to his show career in 2005, and now will be headed for Juvenile Three Gaited and Equitation. We expect to hear great things about this outstanding black gelding! (By the way, "Kory" is the full brother to Paradocs Whatzapnin.)

"Oliver Twist", the handsome bay Thoroughbred with great credentials in dressage and jumping. went to his new home in Gold Vein, VA, with Meg Hennigan. He is enjoying his new pasture-mates, and will hopefully bring Meg back for some dressage shows!

Sweet Design ("Desi" ) and Hot Jambalaya ("Pepper") have a new home (together!) with Brittany and Luray Buckner of Stafford, VA. We hope that these talented hunter ponies will give their new owners years of pleasure!

AHFS Show Series
Chris Prasse, riding "Cristable", won the 2005 year-end high point Champion award for Short Stirrup Over- Fences and Under-saddle in the AHFS Show Series.

Also in the AHFS Show Series, the 2005 High point Champion for the Novice Pony division was "Masquerade", shown by Shauna Prasse.

Reserve high point in the Novice Pony division was "Phantom", shown by Janie Cardwell. Janie and Phantom were also Year End Reserve Champion in Pre-Short Stirrup at the Summerduck Run Farm Series.

We were very proud of our riders and their mounts!

Shauna Prasse and Cody of Paradocs Farm won multiple first place awards and a division championship at the HITS show at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, Va.

Congratulations to Margaret Jill Modlin on her purchase of "Paradocs Genie", the 4 year old, 16.3hh , bay American Saddlebred gelding, out of "Salute's Sorceress" by "Kabuki". This very versatile gelding began his show career winning good ribbons in weanling and yearling futurities. He has excelled as an equitation horse, winning firsts in both saddleseat and huntseat equitation classes, ( as well as in a pairs class!) New to jumping, he placed second in a large novice hunter over fences class this spring. Genie also does well under Western tack and in Dressage, and is particularly good at driving. Whatever he does, Genie displays his willing and lovable personality, which has endeared him to everyone who knows him, especially his lovely new owner!

One of our boarders, Abby, recently gave birth at Paradocs Farm on April 23rd, 2004. Her baby is by "Paradocs Whatzapnin?"

Paradocs Farm is proud to announce the birth of a new filly on February 8th, 2004.

Her name is Paradocs Bailarina del Cielo (Heavenly Dancer), but we call her "Greta" around the barn after one of our helpful stable hands. The Dam is "Royal Crest's Rockette" by "Mountainview's Oh Heavenly Day." She is chestnut with a big star and 2 matching hind socks--very flashy!

We can't wait to show her off!

Congratulations to Jimmy and Susan Hilldrup on the purchase of "Star Snickers" for their daughter Marianna. Snick, a 12.2hh bay pony mare, has long been a favorite here at Paradocs. She was the "first show pony" for numerous young riders, and carried them to the winners circle in short-stirrup, pre-short, green hunter, and western pleasure. She also taught many students to drive. Snick now enjoys playing with Marianna, bossing her "herd" of Arabians ("Thunder" and "Storm") and waiting the spring arrival of her foal by "Paradocs' Whatzapnin".

Congratulations to the Cardwell family on acquiring "Phantom" for their daughter, Janie. "Phantom{, a 13.1 hh chestnut gelding has won blue ribbons in dressage, and Championships and Reserves in pony hunter and green hunter. He has also done demonstrations in bridleless riding and jumping. Janie and Phantom have become quite a team and have already won numerous ribbons in leadline and pre-short stirrup. We expect great things from this pair!

Congratulations to Ken, Michelle, Kendall, and Michaela Taylor on their purchase of the 14.1 hand chestnut gelding, "Robert Redford." "Red" has impressed everyone who has ridden him with his gentle nature. Although new to jumping, he won a large novice hunter pony class in October, and is especially a standout as a trail horse. We know he will bring Kendall and the rest of the Taylor family years of pleasure.
